2008 in review
There are no uneventful years. Each year leaves a trail of highs, lows and head-scratching moments. But to say that 2008 was an exciting year for Malta would be an understatement.
From the introduction of the euro to economic meltdown, from the new water-and-electricity tariffs to the shipyard privatisation, from the PN’s electoral victory to the election of the new Labour leader, there was never a dull moment.
2008 will also be etched in the minds and hearts of Naxxar and Marsaxlokk residents as a time when they faced 2 of the worst tragedies to hit their communities, testing their resilience and faith.
While it will take historians to put it all into perspective, www.di-ve.com looks back at the major events of the year.
